WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE!

This website belongs to Meiko to  Meila and their first litter of wolf-hybrid cubs. Please note that we are not breeders. We do not run a puppy mill, and our wolves were specifically chosen to mate because of our fascination with the breed, their personality  characteristics and their genetics.

Meiko is 75% Timber Wolf. and 25% German Shepherd His mom was full-blood white Timber Wolf. We adopted him when he was 6 weeks old. We weren't planning for any more pets at the time, but he just kind of found us. He has been a member of the family for over 3 years, and he is the best friend I've ever known. He is amazing.

Meila is 78% Timber Wolf 25% Alaskan Malamute. Her dad was full-blood Timber Wolf. She is CKC Registered. She became part of the family in March. We adopted her from a family in Texas who adored her, but could no longer keep her. We looked all over the U.S. to find her, and she has been the perfect addition to our family. Meiko tried not to like her. That lasted about a week and now he can't live without her.

The Cubs were born June 20, 2011 and are approximately 65% Timber Wolf, so they are considered Mid-Content wolves. If you are not familiar with the term, it is defined as follows: Low-Content is usually 50% wolf or less, Mid-Content is 51% ot 75%, and High-Content is above 76%. High-Content wolves are typically very shy, timid, and usually "claim one human as their master". They can be socialized, but it is more difficult and it can take years to completely earn the trust and have a mutual understanding with a High-Content Wolf. Mid-Content wolves are typically preferred as pets, and they willl usually have identifiable wolf tendencies, but seem to adapt to domestic life and bond with the family more easily.

Meila is already teaching the Cubs to "howl", so their bark right now is highly entertaining. The Cubs were born inside our home, (Melia tried to bulld them a den outside, but we live on 5 acres with lots of wildlife, so we weren't too comfortable with her plan). We spend several hours each day playing with each cub to socialize them before they are ready to find a forever home.

A Wolf-Hybrid Cub is very intelligent, so training them is relatively easy with a little bit of effort. We will work with them to begin house-breaking. We also work them not to chew on things (as best as you can with any puppy), and setting the boundries of a home versus taking over the house.

If you are considering providing a home for a wolf-hybrid cub, please make sure you have plenty of room for them to run and play, they are outdoor creatures and they love to explore everything! Also, please make sure you have a fendce area or are prepared to protect your wolf-hybrid. Those who are not familiar with the breed do not have the appreciation for them that those of us who love them do.

BEHAVIOR/ TENDENCIES/ TEMPERMENT

Please keep in mind that a wolf's brain is larger than a dog's brain. That makes them easier to train....and easier to outsmart you. They are highly intelligent, and highly mischevious.

We have experienced that first hand with Meila. She knows how to open the kitchen cabinets to get to the dog treats, She will sleep in the bed when we are not at home, has learned to use the remote control to turn on the TV and the ceiling fan in the bedroom, and will move her food dish into the middle of the living room floor if she is ready to be fed, so you have to trip over it to get anywhere in the house.

Both Meiko and Meila love to ride in the back seat of the car with the window down (Meila has learned how to control the window button with her paw, so if she doesn't think the window is down far enough, she will just handle it herself- thank goodness for child safety features in the car). Meila prefers to "seat surf" with her front paws on the door handle and her "hair blowing in the wind". Meiko prefers to just get out of her way and be wherever she will let hiim.

Wolf-Hybrids have very distinct personalities and they know how to manipulate. Don't let your guard down. You will find them in your bed, passed out on your couch, and Meila has claimed our stained concrete coffee table as her own. As hard you we try, if you turn your back, without proper training, they will have their way.

That brings me to the good news....they are easy to house break and train with proper encouragement (a 10lb bag of chicken jerky should do the trick), and they are very loyal and protective- although not vicious. The do not have a mean temperment, but they will stand guard and could make it difficult for your mailman to put the mail in your box if it is on your front porch. They won't attack him, but they will make sure he knows whose porch his about to walk onto. They never meet a stranger though, as long as the person is someone you approve of first.

JUST A WARNING: YOU REALLY NEED TO HAVE A STRONG SENSE OF HUMOR TO LOVE A WOLF-HYBRID....THEY DEFINATELY HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR OF THEIR OWN, AND THEY WILL USE IT AGAINST YOU.
