This website belongs to Meiko to Meila and their first litter of wolf-hybrid cubs. Please note that we are not breeders. We do not run a puppy mill, and our wolves were specifically chosen to mate because of our fascination with the breed, their personality characteristics and their genetics.
Meiko is 75% Timber Wolf. and 25% German Shepherd His mom was full-blood white Timber Wolf. We adopted him when he was 6 weeks old. We weren't planning for any more pets at the time, but he just kind of found us. He has been a member of the family for over 3 years, and he is the best friend I've ever known. He is amazing.
Meila is 78% Timber Wolf 25% Alaskan Malamute. Her dad was full-blood Timber Wolf. She is CKC Registered. She became part of the family in March. We adopted her from a family in Texas who adored her, but could no longer keep her. We looked all over the U.S. to find her, and she has been the perfect addition to our family. Meiko tried not to like her. That lasted about a week and now he can't live without her.
The Cubs were born June 20, 2011 and are approximately 65% Timber Wolf, so they are considered Mid-Content wolves. If you are not familiar with the term, it is defined as follows: Low-Content is usually 50% wolf or less, Mid-Content is 51% ot 75%, and High-Content is above 76%. High-Content wolves are typically very shy, timid, and usually "claim one human as their master". They can be socialized, but it is more difficult and it can take years to completely earn the trust and have a mutual understanding with a High-Content Wolf. Mid-Content wolves are typically preferred as pets, and they willl usually have identifiable wolf tendencies, but seem to adapt to domestic life and bond with the family more easily.
Meila is already teaching the Cubs to "howl", so their bark right now is highly entertaining. The Cubs were born inside our home, (Melia tried to bulld them a den outside, but we live on 5 acres with lots of wildlife, so we weren't too comfortable with her plan). We spend several hours each day playing with each cub to socialize them before they are ready to find a forever home.
A Wolf-Hybrid Cub is very intelligent, so training them is relatively easy with a little bit of effort. We will work with them to begin house-breaking. We also work them not to chew on things (as best as you can with any puppy), and setting the boundries of a home versus taking over the house.
If you are considering providing a home for a wolf-hybrid cub, please make sure you have plenty of room for them to run and play, they are outdoor creatures and they love to explore everything! Also, please make sure you have a fendce area or are prepared to protect your wolf-hybrid. Those who are not familiar with the breed do not have the appreciation for them that those of us who love them do.
